Published: Dec 31, 2010 by admin Filed under: Artist Biographies Music News

Roc Nation is quickly becoming the best record label in the business. They're already home to stars such as Willow Smith and J. Cole, and today they've added an incredible new talent to their roster. According to reports, Roc Nation have just signed British sensation Cher Lloyd. The 17 year old-singer and student has gained quite the following thanks to her quirky, R&B-style performances on the British show X-Factor. While she didn't win this Season of X-Factor, Lloyd's edge blend of R&B vocal chops with pop style caught the eye of everyone from will.I.am (who has been working with Lloyd in London) to Jay-Z. Roc Nation seems like a perfect fit for her, and we're incredibly excited to hear the music she comes out with. For those of you that aren't yet familiar with her, here is a look at some of Cher's best performances on X-Factor

Nobody Does Christmas Like Mariah Carey by B.Scott

Published: Dec 31, 2010 by admin Filed under: Exclusives News

Merry Christmas II You’, debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 and has sold over 165,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

It brings me great joy to participate in bringing forth the visual for her second single from 'Merry Christmas II You,' “When Christmas Comes,” a contemporary R&B holiday classic in the making.

Since I interviewed Mariah in October 2009, me and Mariah, or “My Mimi” as I call her, have developed a close, sincere, friendship. So of course when she asked me to help develop and announce the Mariah Carey / B. Scott 'When Christmas Comes' L+L (Lambs+Love Muffins) Video Contest I just HAD to say yes. I couldn’t think of a more festive way to bring in the holidays!

Initially, I was just going to announce the video contest, but then I decided to surprise Mariah and take it a step further by doing a full out music video for her “When Christmas Comes,” giving My Mimi the ultimate diva tribute. The video serves not only as the introduction to the contest, but it also gives my love muffins and her lambs something exciting to enjoy and hopefully it will inspire them to put their best work forward as they create videos of their own.

So without further ado, here’s my B. Scott / Mariah Carey - When Christmas Comes music video! Please watch, comment, subscribe to my official YouTube  channel, and get into the holiday spirit! For official contest guidelines visit LoveBScott.com

Too $hort Replies To Arrest Reports; Due In Court In August

(AllHipHop News) Oakland, California rapper Too $hort will appear in court August 4th to answer three misdemeanor assault charges stemming from an altercation backstage at the Knitting Factory in Boise, Idaho last week.

Too $hort and an associate were arrested on July 15th, for allegedly punching and kicking several employees of The Knitting Factory, after they allegedly refused to admit two 18-year-old women backstage during a concert.

"The accusations against me regarding my arrest in Idaho on July 15th, were untrue and exaggerated,” Too $hort said in a statement released earlier today. “Normally I would ignore rumors, but because of the nature of the story that's being spread I had to say something.”

Too $hort, born Todd Shaw, admitted his raunchy lyrics may have cast him in a negative light, but took offense to reports that the women involved in the altercation were “under age girls.”

“Due to my work with young people in Oakland I am extremely outraged at the way I am being portrayed,” Too $hort stated. “The incident that night was completely taken out of context and I have not and never will take advantage of any woman that is under age. Never that!

Too $hort said that he was outraged at the way his arrest was being portrayed in the media, especially in light of his community work, most notably with the renowned East Oakland community center, Youth UpRising.

“Due to my work with young people in Oakland I am extremely outraged at the way I am being portrayed. The incident that night was completely taken out of context and I have not and never will take advantage of any woman that is under age. Never that!”

“These days people believe everything that they see on TV and these blogs,” Too $hort continued. “I have been dedicated to youth organizations and wish to continue to support them and I do not want my community and especially young people that look up to me to think that this is the type of thing that I would do."

NellyMidwest group St. Lunatics are preparing to make a comeback with a new album in almost over ten years. The group is composed of Nelly, Murphy Lee, Kyjuan, Ali, and City Spud. The St. Lunatics' first album titled Free City was released back in 2001 but due to the incarceration of Nelly's brother and group member City Spud, the sophomore album suffered a major delay.

City was recently released from his ten year prison sentence for charges of assault and is now looking forward to working on material for the group's upcoming album.

"Of course, everybody knows that I've been on vacation for a while and now I'm back."

Earlier this week, St. Lunatics linked with Cash Money CEO Birdman to shoot a video for their new single called Money Talks. The video was directed by Juwan Lee at Visiontracks Studio in Fenton, Missouri and will promote for the group's upcoming album City Free which is expected to be released sometime this summer.

"He [Birdman] wasn't able to be a part of Country Grammar or any other Lunatic album that had been done up to this point," Nelly said in a recent interview. "It's exciting for us to watch him because this is his first time really going through the whole process of putting out an album and everything that comes along with it."

Scarface While prepping for the release of his forthcoming album Dopeman Music, Southern rap veteran Scarface talked with Street Disciplez Radio and explained his reasons for leaving his position as president of Def Jam South.

According to Face, his decision was based on the departure of Lyor Cohen and Kevin Liles, and the entrance of LA Reid. He wasn't sure what to expect with the new regime and wanted to end things on his terms. Looking back though he says he should have done things differently.

"I think when the powers Lyor, Kevin -- when everybody left Def Jam, when the wigs left, I was over there with LA Reid," he said. "And I didn't know what kind of sh*t was getting ready to go on over there. So I wanted to save him the hassle of dealing with me because I know I'm not the easiest motherf*cker in the world to deal with."

Scarface also revealed that though Reid respected his request for a release, but not before trying to reason with him.

"He [Reid] said, 'Well, you know I would like to at least sit-down and talk with you but if you want to leave, I understand.'" recalled Face.

"A couple of my friends got on that flight to see LA Reid, but I never got on it. I didn't feel the need to...I felt like LA was a musician, an artist too, and I didn't really want anybody interfering with the way I thought about my music, the way I made up my sh*t.  So I thought it would be best to part ways..If I could do it all again, I'd take that meeting with LA Reid and I'd still be over there at Def Jam South, I'm sure because I don't know what's coming out on that label anymore."

Face is responsible for signing rap superstar Ludacris to the label before it was shut down in 2003. It has since been re-launched with DJ Khaled helming the top executive position.

Lil Wayne Incarcerated rapper Lil Wayne has been hit with a lawsuit by hit producer Jim Jonsin. In the $500,000 civil suit, Jonsin claims that he has not received any of the royalties due to him from Wayne's 2008 single Lollipop. The two worked together on the track and according to the legal documents, Jonsin holds a co-writing credit for the song.

Lollipop features the late R&B singer Static Major and was the lead single for Wayne's multi-platinum album The Carter III. The song would go on to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart on five separate occasions and earned the rapper a Grammy in 2009 in the Best Rap Song category.

Harrison and the company claim that they own the rights to the song and are seeking $2.5 million in owed royalties and profits from ringtones, music videos, and streaming media.

Kiely Williams Defends Her Spectacular Sexy Video

Kiely Williams formerly of 3LW and Cheetah Girls is defending her new video Spectacular. The video is an ode to drunken unprotected sex, and she claims she's just an actress doing a job and frankly she makes a darn good point.

"I am an actor and performer.  I have been so since my first role in a television pilot at five years old.  I played a character when I was a “Cheetah Girl.” I am playing a character in the music video for the song “Spectacular,” as I did in the “Cheetah Girl” movies.  The fact is, that sometimes women get intoxicated and have unprotected sex. My video puts this issue front and center.  It is absurd to infer or suggest that I am condoning this behavior.  Are Lady Gaga and Beyonce advocating murder with the “Telephone” video? Of, course not. Was Rihanna encouraging suicide with “Russian Roulette?” No. Was Madonna suggesting that young unmarried girls get pregnant with “Papa Don’t Preach?” I don’t think so.  Is Academy Award winner Monique a proponent of incest because of her portrayal of Mary in the movie “Precious.”  Clearly, the answer is no.  I wrote “Spectacular” and made the video to bring attention to a serious women’s health and safety issue. Don’t shoot the messenger. ~ Kiely Williams

Garcelle Beauvais' Husband Cheated On Her With???????

Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon has suffered the same fate as Elin Woods, and Sandra Bullock. The actress best known for her role as Fancy on the Jamie Foxx Show wrote an email to expose her cheating husband, and that email has landed on page six. According to Huffington Post:

In an e-mail making the rounds at the agency with the subject line "Tiger Woods/Jesse James/Mike Nilon," the former "NYPD Blue" star wrote to Nilon's colleagues, "What do they have in common . . . I found out today that MY husband of almost 9 yrs has been having an affair for 5 yrs with some sl*t in Chicago. I am devastated!!!! And I have been duped!! Our boys don't deserve this!"

Strong words from the beautiful actress, mother and Playboy Playmate. I think this year will be the end of marriage or cheating. Let's hope it's the latter. Garcelle Beauvais continues:

'We broke up for three months. I went to a movie premiere and he [was there], hoping he would see me and I was hoping I would see him. At the end of the night we didn't see each other and I thought he left but he was waiting for me. He came up to me and asked, "Will you marry me?" And I was like, Yes!"'

There is no fury like a woman scorned.

J Cole Takes NY and Proves He's Ahead of the Class [PHOTOS & VIDEO]

MORE ON:

This week I cleared my extremely busy schedule to take ok XXL's Freshman Class. First up was J. Cole who tookover SOB's for Hot 97's Who's Next concert. J Cole rocked the hard New York as he had a jammed packed SOB's going crazy to every joint he performed. J. Cole came on stage to a loud roar of the crowd and kicked off joints from his dope mixtape The Warm Up. The crowd was hype singing along and J. Cole's stage presence was that of a veteran MC who actually has been on tour. No hype man, no entourage on stage just him and a mic. J. Cole played to the crowd and talked in a cocky yet extremely humble swagger.

After watching the show, it's easy to see that J. Cole is truly the standout student in this years class. I see nothing but huge things for J. Cole. I mean how many NEW ARTIST can rock a new song and by the 2 minute mark have the entire crowd jamming and singing along? J. Cole is a star.

I also had the chance to kick it w/ Roc Nation's beautiful new artist Rita Ora. She showed off some of her jewlery and names while we sat in VIP and discussed her move to the states. She's so cool, and very humble and amazingly down to Earth. Jay-Z discovered her in a mall and now look at her, The newest artist on Roc Nation. Amazing. BTW ladies, She made those earings herself. I love creative women.
